Personal projects

video and screenshots available

I have made several personal programs and games during my study at the Art Institute. Some of them I created as a part of my assignments, some of them I created out of fun and curiosity.

We had a course on Flash and Action Script in our second term, that's when me and my buddies Greg and Wilkie wrote this South Park: The Night Of A Thousand Craps game (not yet copyrighted). See the screenshots and video for the game, if you like it you can even download it here!

As part of my graduation requirements, I had to join a team with several other programmers, artists, animators and designers to create a large scale game mod. We chose to use the Unreal Tournament 2004 as our base and we created HouseTrap, a single-player adventure game that focuses on action and puzzle solving. We spent roughly six months completing this game from scratch. Over the course of programming for this game, I learned a great deal about Unreal scripting, working on the WOTgreal compiler as well as seeing the codes work in the Unreal Editor. Due to the lack of referencial support for Unreal Script, it took me some time to complete my assigned tasks which was to program for three of the many traps in the game. These traps include a bunch of vacuums that chases Oscar, our hero in the game; a suit of armor that lands his sword whenever Oscar approaches; a chandelier that will not give up chasing Oscar, dropping down every now and then trying to grab him (and sometimes does succeed). Check the screenshots and the demo video for the game and you will have a better idea on what I am trying to describe here.

One does not really qualify as a game developer if he does not pay homage to the classics, right? And so here it is, my implementation of the ever epic shooting game Space Invaders. I hope I don't have to explain how it works, my version has only one stage and you have 3 lives. 300 points get you the winner screen. If you're too lazy to download and play, have a look at the screenshot and video for it.
