Paid respect
This will be my first and last chance to actually be able to catch a ticket to a Michael Jaskson show (and able to afford too), I told myself “It’s not too late”.
Even though I almost blacked out due to a two-day stomach flu attack, a brief rest (thanks again beb) after dinner saved me from missing it. At 11:30pm I drove to the theater full of excitement. It was the midnight screening on the first day and the house was only barely half-filled, showed me how quickly people forget things, does it matter if you’re the King of Pop?
And after watching nearly two solid hours of the “This is it” concert footage, I can only say that the guy really tried to give whatever he has left and showed the world the best last page of a star’s career ever. I mean he made new versions of classic music videos such as “Smooth Criminal”, “Earth Song” and even a 3D version of “Thriller”. He had everything ready down to the thank you speech, and was taken away days before the debut. Whoever that is found guilty of his death deserves to be jailed long enough to miss his parents’ funerals.
You’ll see him using about 75% of his voice and 60% of his dance moves since everything was rehearsal and he was conserving energy, but Kenny Ortega put the whole thing together in a way that I wouldn’t have it any other.
Mike’s the best thing happened in my lifetime in terms of entertainment.
