Work and play (Week of 8/31)

To be more organized is something I always wanted to do for my blog, not that it has a large amount of useful information right now, but still it’s always better to have an easier way to track down posts.

So I’m coining “Work and play” and basically it will conclude things that happened in my gaming world (which has been a microscopic one as of late) as well as my work. Hopefully once a week I can find the time to share these things to the 2 audience that are reading this blog :)

“Batman Returns” — Still the best Batman game ever made

As I watched the new Dark Knight trailer over and over again, all of a sudden I crave a fun Batman game. And since the past 4 Batman games released on console all sucked, I took out one of my all time favorite consoles which is the SFC and put in Batman Returns (bought it at Akiba in 2006, for only 504yen!!). Played a first run to get familiar with the controls again, and then rushed thru all 8 levels in the game with an incredible satisfaction. The many ways you can grab enemies (my favourite will always be grabbing two at a time and bonk their heads together, you can even do it to bosses!), the different level design (2D with depth, 2D w/o depth, driving the Batmobile), the most faithful to the movie soundtrack and not to mention the Tim Burton-ness wrapping the whole game. All this not only make this game the best movie adaptation ever, but as a stand alone it is still one of the best 2D scroll fighters I’ve played.
